How to create a GST invoice online

  1. Select India GST and choose Tax Invoice — or Bill of Supply if you are under the composition scheme or supplying exempt goods.
  2. Enter your business details, GSTIN and state, and your customer’s details and state (the place of supply).
  3. Add each item with its HSN/SAC code, quantity, price and GST rate. CGST + SGST or IGST is calculated for you.
  4. Add payment details, then click Download PDF and send it to your customer.

What must a GST invoice include?

A GST tax invoice normally shows the supplier’s name, address and GSTIN, a unique consecutive invoice number and date, the recipient’s details (with GSTIN if registered), a description of the goods or services with HSN/SAC code, quantity and value, the taxable value, the GST rate and the CGST/SGST/IGST amounts, and the place of supply. Read the full checklist on our GST invoice format page.

CGST + SGST or IGST?

If you and your customer are in the same state, GST is split equally into CGST and SGST. If they are in different states, IGST applies. This tool compares your state with the place of supply and shows the correct split. More in CGST, SGST and IGST explained.

When to move beyond a free generator

A generator is perfect for occasional bills. If you invoice regularly, InvoicePro’s GST billing software saves customers and products with GSTIN and HSN codes, numbers invoices automatically, handles credit notes and quotations, and gives you GST summary, GSTR-1 register and HSN reports. It is free to start.

Composition-scheme dealers and suppliers of exempt goods or services issue a bill of supply instead of a tax invoice, without charging GST. Choose “Bill of Supply” in the Document menu.
